Presented as a pop concert, the wives take turns singing and telling their stories. To see who suffered the most due to Henry and should, thus, become the group’s lead singer.

My Review of Six the Musical

Six Musical TicketsI saw a musical with a sister-friend! She invited me and my daughter to watch the show.

My daughter is really into Broadway musicals. It’s something she grew into with her dad.

To say the least, she was excited to see the show. She has heard so much about it. She hipped me to the SIX studio album that was released. I of course knew nothing!

Ahe told me I would like it because of the music! She was right.

This show was amazing! Some of the most creative presentations I’ve seen on a stage in a long time. By the end of the show, I was a fan and planned to tell everyone I know to see the show at the CIBC Theater in Chicago IL.

The lighting, the stage, their wardrobe, the all-girl band, and the performers were amazing. Their harmonies were flawless!

I knew nothing about King Henry VIII. Until I heard about his wives from their story. So let me give you some insight into what this play is about.

Henry VIII (28 June 1491 – 28 January 1547) was King of England from 22 April 1509 until his death on 28 January 1547.

Henry is best known for his six marriages. And for his efforts to have his first marriage (to Catherine of Aragon) annulled.

His disagreement with Pope Clement VII about such an annulment. Led Henry to start the English Reformation. Separating the Church of England from papal authority.

He appointed himself Supreme Head of the Church of England.

And dissolved convents and monasteries, for which he was excommunicated.

Henry is also known as “the father of the Royal Navy”. As he invested heavily in the navy. Increased its size from a few to more than 50 ships and established the Navy Board.

Henry’s contemporaries considered him to be an attractive, educated, and accomplished king. He has been described as “one of the most charismatic rulers to sit on the English throne”.

His reign has been described as the “most important” in English history. He was an author and composer. As he aged, he became severely overweight, and his health suffered.

He is characterized in his later life as lustful. Egotistical, paranoid, and tyrannical monarch. He was succeeded by his son Edward VI.

I remember clearly studying King Henry VIII at school, and in later years, so did my boys. For this classic bit of history to be turned into a musical, is great to see and I would love to be able to watch Six the Musical.

But as I live in Australia, Chicago is not a possibility for me. Will the musical be taken on a world tour? Or will it only be performed in Chicago this time around? Thank you for sharing this details of Six the Musical.
